LCSO Detective Ryan Sullivan, as an additional duty, is assigned to the North Florida Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. He began an investigation upon receiving a cyber tip from the Nation Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The tip detailed that Laron Jackson of Chiefland was communicating with a minor child.
The investigation revealed conversations were occurring on a popular social media platform and Jackson was indeed communicating with a minor. Detective Sullivan obtained evidence that Jackson was aware he was communicating with a minor child and this communication included transmitting harmful material to this minor. On October 10, 2025 Detective Sullivan obtained an arrest warrant for Jackson who was charged with transmission of harmful material to a minor and unlawful use of a two-way communication device. The bond was set at $100,000.00.
On June 20, 2026 Laron Jackson (03/30/1998) was arrested by the Florida Highway Patrol during a traffic stop.
Sheriff McCallum and the Levy County Sheriff’s Office want parents to be aware that children are being targeted and exploited through social networking and messaging apps. Every parent should monitor their child’s activities on social media and be wary of predators targeting our children. The LCSO is committed to combating these horrific crimes and partner with fellow law enforcement agencies as well as the North Florida ICAC Task Force to apprehend these criminals.
