SUCCESSFUL PROSECUTION OF CONVICTED SEX OFFENDER FOR REGISTRATION VIOLATION

Jun 3, 2026

The Levy County Sheriff’s Office announces the conviction and sentencing of registered sexual offender Kyle Michael Bailey.

Bailey is a registered sexual offender originally convicted in 2012 of Sexual Battery on a Victim under 12 Years of Age. A recent investigation conducted by Detective C. Weaver of the Levy County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and Sexual Offender/Predator Unit was based on information received from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE). The tip indicated Bailey was no longer residing at his registered address. Detective Weaver conducted multiple address verification checks, interviewed witnesses, and followed up on numerous leads. The investigation revealed Bailey vacated his registered residence and failed to report a change of address as required by Florida law.

Detective Weaver discovered Bailey had five previous Sexual Offender Registration Violations dating back to 2018. These prior violations demonstrated a continued pattern of non-compliance with Florida’s registration requirements.

Bailey was charged with violations of Florida’s Sexual Offender registration laws as a result of the investigation. Bailey subsequently entered a plea of guilty to a violation of F.S. 943.0435(4)(b) – Sexual Offender Violation: Failure to Report Vacating a Permanent or Transient Residence. Bailey was sentenced to 67 months in the Florida Department of Corrections.

Sheriff Bobby McCallum said, “The registration requirements imposed on sexual offenders are designed to protect our communities and ensure accountability. Individuals who fail to comply with these requirements will be investigated and held responsible. I commend our detectives and the 8th Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office for their diligence, professionalism, and commitment to protecting the citizens of Levy County.”

This conviction reflects the continued efforts of the Levy County Sheriff’s Office Sexual Offender/Predator Unit who monitor compliance with Florida’s sexual offender registration laws and hold offenders accountable when violations occur.
