Bronson Woman Arrested for Narcotics Trafficking

During the evening hours Deputy Kaleigh Richetti observed a Ford SUV committing a traffic infraction at the intersection of NE 106th Terrace and NE 69th Place in Bronson, Florida. Deputy Richetti conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with driver Shauna Briggs of Bronson.

Deputy Richetti observed Briggs exhibit suspicious behavior indicators including reaching around the interior of the vehicle and extreme nervousness. Deputy Richetti requested assistance from Deputy Rich Peters and his K-9 partner Bohden who responded to the traffic stop.

Deputy Peters and K-9 Bohden conducted a free air sniff around the exterior of the vehicle, K-9 Bohden positively alerted to the odor of narcotics from within the vehicle.
Based on probable cause to conduct a search of the vehicle Deputies located inside the vehicle 4.7 grams of fentanyl, 7.9 grams of liquid from a larger plastic bag, which field tested positive for methamphetamine. Prior to the search Briggs attempted to destroy the narcotics and discard narcotic paraphernalia.
When deputies attempted to place Briggs under arrest she resisted and actively attempted to fight with deputies though was quickly taken into custody, and transported to the Levy County Detention Bureau.

Briggs was charged Trafficking in Fentanyl, Possession of Controlled substance without Prescription, Resisting Officer W/O violence, Evidence Tampering, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia where she was given a bond of 122,000 for the various narcotic offenses and No Bond for Trafficking Fentanyl.
