On September 8, 2026, a Levy County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) deputy observed Nicholas Joel Dellatorre (w/m 8-28-1991) driving a Ford pickup truck in the Inglis area of Levy County. The deputy recognized Dellatorre and knew that he had an outstanding felony warrant.
The deputy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle on CR 40 east of the Town of Inglis. The driver initially stopped but fled when the deputy ordered him to exit the vehicle. The deputy pursued the vehicle a short distance into Marion County. Dellatorre stopped the truck near the 23,200 block of West Highway 40 when the vehicle became disabled. The driver then fled into a wooded area on foot.
During the brief foot pursuit, the driver produced a Model 1911 style weapon and brandished it at the deputy. In response, the deputy discharged his firearm striking Dellatorre multiple times. Backup deputies from LCSO and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office arrived shortly thereafter. They took Dellatorre into custody and immediately requested EMS.
Dellatorre was transported to a hospital for treatment. Dellatorre’s weapon was recovered at the scene. No deputies were injured during the incident.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the deputy-involved shooting. MCSO is investigating the potential crimes committed by Dellatorre in their jurisdiction.
