Chiefland Sex Offender Arrested

On November 13th, 2025, LCSO Detectives with the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) and Sex Offender Unit conducted a sexual offender compliance check on Bracey Lake Absher (7/10/86) in Chiefland, FL. Offender checks are preformed frequently to ensure sex offenders residing in Levy County are in compliance with Florida statutes. This check yielded evidence of current and on-going violations that resulted in his arrest.

In 2015, Absher was adjudicated guilty for solicitation of a minor. Based upon being found guilty he was designated as a sexual offender for the remainder of his life.

Detective Cody Weaver examined the contents of his cellular phone during the compliance check. Detective Weaver found Absher was using a phone application called Telegram that had been installed on his phone. This is a social media application where users post, share, trade, download, and/or view Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). Upon opening the application, Detective Weaver immediately observed numerous CSAM images. Detective Weaver also observed chats (messages) between Absher and other Telegram users where the topic of discussion was exchanging CSAM material. These conversations also contained users speaking about their sexual preferences.

Detective Weaver placed Absher under arrest. Absher was found to be in possession of 10 CSAM images and was charged for Possession of CSAM. On November 14th during first appearance County Court Judge Bustamante assigned a $1 million bond for these charges. This investigation is on-going. Anyone who has information on Absher or others he has communicated CSAM images with is asked to contact Detective Cody Weaver at 352-486-5111.
