Patrol Division

The Patrol Division is divided into four zones, Chiefland, Bronson, Williston and Inglis. Our deputies work 12 hour shifts 24 hours a day. Deputies rotate from days to nights every three months. All deputies are assigned a take home car under the Indianapolis Plan.
The Levy County Sheriff’s Office is the largest law enforcement agency in Levy County and is often called upon for assistance by other public safety agencies in Levy County such as EMS, Fire and the three local Police Departments (PD), Chiefland PD, Williston PD and Cedar Key PD. Levy County deputies work closely with our neighboring agencies by keeping an open line of communication and fostering a cooperative relationship with these agencies, we are able to work together collectively to ensure that the needs of all Levy County citizens and our visitors are met.

K-9 Unit

The duties of a K9 officer depend on the type of dog with which the officer is paired. He is first and foremost an officer whose task is to ensure the safety of the community. The K-9 Unit employs some of the bravest and hardest working members of the Levy County Sheriff’s Office.

Training Hours

These dogs come to work every day with their handlers and ride a twelve-hour shift just like the rest of our patrol deputies. They endure many dangers that could cause them injury or death, but they never hesitate to serve and protect when called upon.

The canine section utilizes highly trained dogs which were imported from Germany and receive monthly training in narcotics detection and patrol work. The K-9 unit maintains a full plate of activities from drug detection to criminal apprehension.
