January 6, 2020

On Saturday, January 4, 2020, Levy County Deputies responded to Bubba’s Place Bar in Fanning Springs to a reported parking lot fight where a person had been cut and stabbed. Deputies arrived to find a 25 year old patron bleeding from a large laceration to the back of his neck and a stab wound to his upper arm. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Detectives responded and interviewed multiple witnesses. This led Detectives to the identification of Gregory Heath Hingson (2/25/80) of Chiefland as the person responsible for cutting and stabbing the victim. Detectives learned a third party approached Hingson and his friend who were in the parking lot and started an altercation. The victim jumped into the fight that was occurring between Hingson’s friend and the other man. Hingson was already armed with a pocket knife and during the brawl, cut and stabbed the victim. All parties, except the victim, fled the scene prior to law enforcement’s arrival.

Detectives located and arrested Hingson within hours of the altercation. He was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and posted a $10,000 bond the following morning.
