In 2010 the Levy County Sheriff’s Office Citizens on Patrol (COP) Program has worked 8,649 hours with the Sheriff’s Office. This Unit is a volunteer Unit within the Sheriff’s Office that has saved the taxpayers thousands of dollars. The COP Unit assists with the following services:
- Funeral Escorts.
- Traffic control crashes, forest fires and natural disasters.
- Working at the Levy County Court House to assist with Jury Selections, Trials and Court Proceedings.
- Pick up Pawn tickets through out the county.
- Transports when requested by Law Enforcement.
- Clerical Work in the LCSO Records Section.
- Community Patrols when requested by Law Enforcement.
- Clerical Work in the LCSO Civil Section.
- LCSO Business Watch Program.
- Assist Local Municipalities.
In 2010 the COP has volunteered over 8649 hours a savings over $129,735. From January to June of 2011 the COP has donated 4,947 hours a savings of $74,205. The Levy County Sheriff’s Office Citizens on Patrol (COP) Program worked 104 funerals during 2010. From October 1, 2010 through June 2011 the COP Unit has traveled 29,117 Miles and used $7731.17 in fuel. COP has worked the below Special Events: Williston: Williston 4th of July Parade and Fireworks Williston High School Homecoming Parade Williston Air Show Martin Luther King Parade Halloween Trail of Treaters (October) Christmas Parade Peanut Festival Williston Police Department Banquet Otter Creek: Otter Creek Parade Wild Hog Canoe Race to benefit Levy ARC Bronson: Bronson High School Homecoming Parade Bronson Youth League Bark and Purr Charity Event Working at the Levy County Court House to assist with Jury Selection, Trials and Court Proceedings. Chiefland: Chiefland High School Homecoming Parade Veterans Parade Christmas Parade Watermelon Festival Cedar Key: 4th of July Parade Seafood Festival Arts & Crafts Festival Mustang Run to Cedar Key Fanning Springs: Festival of Lights Boat Parade Spring Festival for Park Service The COP Program provides escorts for the following Motorcycle Charity Events: Ride to Provide for Levy ARC Cruzin for Kids, Williston Elementary School Safety Patrol Toys for Tots, Chiefland We are very grateful for the dedication of the men & women who volunteer there time away from home. The COP Program is an intricate part of the Levy County Sheriff’s Office and a tremendous benefit to the citizens of this great county. Their loyalty to the program does not go unnoticed.
