Bronson Man Arrested On Drug Charges

MEDIA RELEASE   Date:                January 19, 2010 Time:                11:30   Bronson, Florida-On January 16, 2010 Drug Agent Joe Barrera arrested Jeffrey Deshaun Patterson for sale of crack cocaine and possession of cocaine within a 1000 feet of public housing authority.   The Levy County Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force conducted an undercover drug buy at 418 North Pine Ave in Bronson.  The confidential source purchased crack cocaine from Patterson and the purchase was less than 1000 feet from a Public Housing Authority.  Patterson is well known to the Levy County Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force.  Patterson is an eight time convicted felon and has been convicted five times on misdemeanor charges.  Patterson bond was set by the courts at $ 60,000.   Defendant:   Jeffrey Deshaun Patterson 6419 NW 65th Street Ocala, Fl. Captain Chad Reed Killed In The Line Of Duty

Law Enforcement Mourns the Loss of Captain Chad Reed ~Funeral scheduled for the weekend~

Dixie County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) Captain Chad Reed, 33, was killed in the line of duty yesterday following a shooting incident in Cross City, Fla.  Suspect John Kalisz, 55, allegedly fired the fatal wound.
FDLE is investigating the incident.    Capt. Reed joined the DCSO June 1, 1998 as a Sheriff’s Deputy and served as a captain since Jan. 1, 2007.  Capt. Reed supervised several areas including D.A.R.E. and crime prevention programs.  He also oversaw the agency’s school resource officers and the dive team unit.   Capt. Reed is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy Class 238 Session.   “Captain Reed dedicated his life to serving others and protecting our community. He was a dedicated deputy who we were proud to know and honored to serve with,” said Sheriff Dewey Hatcher.  “In his final acts, Captain Reed was exhibiting the selflessness for which he was so well known.  He will always be part of the Dixie County Sheriff’s Office family.   He will never be forgotten.”    Capt. Reed was elected president of the Florida Emergency Preparedness Association and demonstrated his leadership skills while working for the Dixie County Department of Emergency Management.   “Today, Florida’s emergency management community is mourning the loss of one of our own,” said Florida Division of Emergency Management Interim Director David Halstead.  “Chad’s dedication and unwavering commitment to those he protected and served in Dixie County and around the state will be sorely missed. A wonderful human being was taken from us much too soon. Bronson Man Arrested for Unlawful Sex Act and Lewd and Lacivious Molestion on a Minor


MEDIA RELEASE Date: January 9 2010 Time: 8:30 PM  Bronson, Florida- On January 8, 2010, Detective Jay Crooms arrested Phillip Alexander for Unlawful Sex Act and Lewd and Lascivious Molestation on a minor. On January 8, 2010 the sheriffs office received a tip from an friend of the victim that the victim was being assault. The victim then confirmed the story with the sheriffs office and advised that Phillip Alexander did indeed commit those acts upon her. Later that afternoon Phillip Alexander post Miranda at the Levy County Sheriff's Office confessed to having sexual intercourse with the victim that was know to him.
